The basics of using Lyff to organise everyday life and prepare for the people who matter.
See how Lyff works →Lyff is a private digital vault for organising important documents, information, wishes and instructions. It brings everyday life admin and planning ahead together, with selected sharing features on paid plans.
You can organise documents such as insurance policies, identity records, property paperwork and health information, along with important contacts, wishes and instructions. Only upload information you are entitled to hold. Explore what you can store .
Start with something you often need to find: an insurance policy, passport copy or important instructions. Give it a clear name, choose a category and add an expiry, renewal or review date where useful. Then review its privacy and sharing settings.
Keep household paperwork easier to find, add reminders for renewals and prepare instructions for the people who depend on you. On a paid plan, you can share selected items with a partner or family member appointed as an active Guardian. Each adult keeps their own private vault.
Choose the number of adults you need to cover without creating a shared family vault.
Compare plans →Free provides one private vault for 12 months with up to five documents and optional document reminders. It does not include Guardians, Custodians, Share Now, Release Later or Future Messages. Lyff accounts are for adults.
Complete covers one adult, Complete Duo covers two and Complete Circle covers up to four. All paid plans include the same core features. Each adult has a separate account, private vault and permissions; Duo and Circle bring billing together.
No. Paying for a plan or joining the same plan gives no access to another adult’s vault. They choose whether to appoint you as a Guardian and which selected items to share with you.
Yes, on a paid plan. Appoint your partner as a Guardian, wait until the appointment is Active, then use Share Now for selected items. Sharing gives access through Lyff; it does not copy the document into your partner’s private vault.
Lyff provides a 90-day grace period to read or export information and renew or upgrade, subject to the applicable terms. Document reminder emails are not sent during this period. Read the Terms of Service .
See Plans and pricing for current prices and billing choices. The Refunds and Cancellations page explains the applicable policy. Contact support if you need help with an existing subscription.
Add a document while it is in front of you, at home, at work or on the move.
Explore what you can store →Yes. Choose “Take a photo” in the upload form to open your phone’s rear camera. Check that the whole document is readable, retake it if necessary, then add the details and save.
Yes. Choose “Choose a file or photo” to select an existing PDF, photo or another supported file. You can enter an optional expiry, renewal or review date and choose reminders in the same form.
Photos are compressed in your browser before upload to reduce their size while keeping them clear and readable. The form shows the before and after sizes and offers a retake option. Check important text before saving.
Select “Upload from your phone” to show a QR code on your computer. Scan it with your phone to open the upload page. You must sign in on the phone with your password and MFA before taking a photo or choosing a file. Files are encrypted on the phone before upload.
Uploads currently support one file at a time, including desktop drag and drop. Multi-page camera scanning, batch uploads, direct Google Drive or Dropbox imports and QR upload without signing in on the phone are not currently included.
Keep track of the dates attached to important documents, from insurance renewals to passport expiry.
Explore document reminders →Add an optional “Expiry, renewal or review date” in the upload form, then choose your reminders. After upload, a confirmation shows the reminders you have set. You enter the date yourself; Lyff does not determine it from the document.
Choose 60, 30, 14 or 7 days before your document date, or select a custom reminder date. The 60-day and 14-day options are selected by default. Review the selections before saving.
Yes. Select “Repeat annually” for a yearly renewal or review. Keep the saved date and reminder choices up to date. A reminder does not renew a policy, licence or subscription for you.
Open Document details to edit the date, change reminder selections or switch reminders off for that document. You can also turn all reminders off in Settings while keeping your saved dates.
Reminders are available for the five documents on the 12-month Free plan and all documents on paid plans. Reminder emails contain no file contents or sensitive details. No reminder emails are sent during the grace period.
A role identifies a trusted person. Your item permissions determine what they can access.
Explore Guardians →A Guardian is a trusted personal contact, such as a partner, family member or friend, whom you appoint through Lyff. The role does not automatically open your vault. You choose the selected items they can access and when. Guardians require a paid plan.
A Custodian is a nominated professional, subject to Lyff’s professional verification and invitation process. As with a Guardian, the appointment alone does not give access to everything. Learn about Custodians .
A Guardian becomes Active after accepting your invitation and completing MFA. Identity verification is not required at appointment. Before using Share Now, check that the person is Active.
Identity verification happens if they request Release Later, before evidence review. The verification route may use ConnectID where supported or an alternative document verification pathway. Accepting an invitation is separate from this release verification.
No. Share Now covers only selected items. Release Later covers only items assigned to that person for the relevant event. Private items are excluded from both trusted-person access and Release Later. Review your appointments and item permissions when circumstances change.
Make selected information available now, prepare it for later, and keep other items private.
Explore sharing and permissions →Private items are for you only. Share Now gives an active appointed Guardian or Custodian access to selected items. Release Later assigns selected items and recipients for incapacity, passing or both. Sharing and release features require a paid plan.
No. Share Now is for active appointed Guardians and Custodians. Future Messages are a separate feature that can send a message and supported attachments to an email recipient on a chosen date; they do not grant vault access.
Yes. Incapacity and passing have separate item and recipient assignments. Review each event’s settings so the right selected information goes to the right appointed people.
You can change or revoke the relevant permissions to prevent further access through Lyff. Revoking access cannot recall a file that the recipient has already downloaded or a copy they have made.
The appointed person requests release from their own account inside Lyff. The process includes identity verification, supporting evidence, a seven-day waiting period after evidence is accepted, final human review and approval by a different manager. Only items assigned for the approved event are released. Read the release process .
The subscriber is notified by email and SMS and can sign in to stop an incorrect request. Release is not automatic when seven days pass: final human review and separate manager approval are still required. Private items are never included in Release Later.
Future Messages, Check-In and document reminders have different purposes.
Explore Future Messages →Future Messages let you prepare a personal message, with supported attachments such as photos, video or files, for delivery by email on a date you choose. They require a paid plan and are separate from Share Now and Release Later.
No. You can address a Future Message to anyone by email. Receiving a message does not make them a Guardian or Custodian and does not give them access to your vault.
Lyff Check-In is a six-monthly reminder to review your information, trusted people and sharing choices. It helps keep your Lyff useful as life changes. Learn about Check-In .
No. Missing Check-In does not release documents, start recovery, change permissions or automatically contact a Guardian or Custodian. Document reminders are separate and relate to the expiry, renewal or review dates you enter.
Understand account access, vault encryption and recovery before you need help.
Explore encryption and storage →Your account password signs you in to Lyff. Your vault passphrase unlocks your encrypted vault. They do different jobs: resetting your account password does not unlock the vault or reset its passphrase.
Your Recovery Key can help recover access to your existing encrypted vault keys so you can set a new vault passphrase. The recovery flow still requires your authenticated subscriber account and MFA. Store the Recovery Key securely outside your vault.
No. The Recovery Key alone cannot open your vault through Lyff. Recovery requires your authenticated subscriber account and MFA. A Guardian’s own account does not replace those requirements; appointed people use the release process for items assigned to them.
The recovery process recovers your existing vault keys and protects them with a new passphrase. Your underlying vault keys stay the same, so existing Private items remain decryptable. Recovery does not change your sharing permissions.
No. Vault files are encrypted on your device before upload using AES-256 encryption. Lyff staff cannot decrypt and read those files. Account, billing and operational information are separate, and the Care Card Emergency Profile uses a different privacy model.
Encrypted private vault content is hosted in Australia. “Encrypted at rest” means stored data is encrypted; it does not by itself mean the service cannot decrypt it. Lyff’s vault uses device-side, zero-knowledge encryption. The Care Card Emergency Profile is encrypted at rest but is not zero-knowledge. See the Privacy Policy for account information and service providers.
Understand what a scan reveals before you choose what to publish.
Explore the Care Card →The Care Card is a separate optional product: a wallet card and key tag sharing one QR code. It costs $68 as a one-off purchase including GST and Australian delivery, and includes a 12-month Free vault. Replacement sets cost $18.
Anyone with the QR code or profile link can view your chosen Emergency Profile fields without signing in. The profile is read-only. A scan cannot open, reveal or connect to your private vault or its documents. Only publish information you are comfortable making available to a finder or responder.
No. It is encrypted at rest, but it is separate from your zero-knowledge vault and is designed to display your chosen public fields through the QR link. Lyff does not sell Emergency Profile information or use it for marketing, and there is no scan log.
After dispatch, your activation code is emailed separately. Activation requires sign-in, the set’s serial, the code and MFA. Editing the profile, pausing, reinstating, reporting lost, replacing or permanently deactivating a set requires fresh MFA to confirm it is you making the change.
Pausing the set pauses both the wallet card and key tag because they share one QR code. You can report the set lost and arrange a replacement, or permanently deactivate it. A replacement must arrive and be activated before it can be used. Visit Care Card help .
It can keep working if your Lyff account is retained and the Care Card set remains active. Card management remains available after vault access ends. Deleting your account removes the Emergency Profile. Read the Care Card Product and Privacy Guide .

Yes. Open the chat bubble for chatbot guidance from the Lyff knowledge base. Do not enter your password, vault passphrase, Recovery Key, MFA codes or private vault contents. The chatbot does not have access to your vault contents.
Concierge is an optional paid human service for onboarding and vault setup guidance, with availability depending on the selected plan. It uses demonstration materials and dummy documents. You perform the uploads and configuration; the Concierge cannot view or interact with your vault contents and does not provide legal, financial or medical advice. Explore Concierge .
