You decide, item by item, who sees what

Every document, note and account detail you store in Lyff has its own Sharing Setting. Nothing defaults to shared. Every item starts as Private, visible only to you, and stays that way unless you decide otherwise.

That means an insurance policy might be visible to your partner today, while a letter to your children only opens once the Lyff Release process has been completed. You set it once, per item, and Lyff carries it out exactly as instructed, nothing more.

Private really means private

Anything you mark as Private is protected with Zero-Knowledge encryption. Lyff itself cannot see it, decrypt it, or hand it over, even if asked. If you lose both your passphrase and your Recovery Key for a Private item, it can't be recovered by anyone, including Lyff.

Anything you choose to share, whether with a Lyff Guardian or a Lyff Custodian, uses a different, managed form of encryption, built specifically to make that sharing, and the Lyff Release process, possible when the time comes.

A record of everything, always visible to you

Every login, upload, download and change to your Sharing Settings is recorded in your Activity Log. It's available to you at any time from within your account, so you never have to wonder what's changed or who has been in your vault.

Update who can see a document, and your Activity Log shows it. A Lyff Guardian accesses something you've shared with them, and your Activity Log shows that too. Nothing happens inside your vault that you can't go back and check.

Why this matters

Most people don't think about their digital life until something forces them to. Knowing that access is genuinely under your control, and that you can see exactly what's happened, is what turns “I should probably sort this out” into actually doing it.
