Lyff · Recovery & Access
Recovery

Multiple ways back in, so you are never locked out

Recovery is built around one rule: a forgotten password should never cost you your vault. Every account has several independent paths back in.

Password and two-factor authentication

Your account is protected by your login password and required two-factor authentication (2FA). When you sign in on a new device, you will be asked for your password and a one-time code sent to your phone. This protects your account even if your password is ever compromised.

Biometric authentication

On mobile, use facial recognition or fingerprint authentication to open the Lyff app quickly, without re-entering your password every time. A convenient way in that never compromises the security behind it.

Backup codes

At setup, you will receive a set of backup codes. Keep these somewhere safe. If you ever lose access to your phone, backup codes let you get back into your account without locking yourself out.

Your Recovery Key

At setup, Lyff generates a unique Recovery Key for your account. It is your personal safety net, the only self-service way back in if you lose access to both your email and your two-factor authentication. Store it securely, for example as a printed copy with your important documents.

Guardian-assisted recovery

If you are locked out and cannot use your Recovery Key, contact Lyff support. We will verify your identity, and your nominated Lyff Guardian can help confirm the recovery request. Losing your credentials does not mean losing your vault.

Extra protection for Private items

Items you mark Private carry an additional layer of encryption that only your password and Recovery Key can unlock together. It is what gives your most sensitive items their strongest protection, while still leaving you a secure way back in.

Access

Access is always on your terms

Every item in your vault carries its own Sharing Setting. Lyff Guardians and Lyff Custodians only ever see what you have chosen to share, and only once the conditions you set are met.

Encrypted for the people you choose

When you share an item, it is encrypted specifically for the Guardian or Custodian you have nominated. They can open only what you have shared with them, nothing more.

Not even Lyff can see it

Lyff staff cannot view the documents, messages, or personal details inside your vault. Internal access is limited to the minimum required to support your account, restricted to exceptional circumstances, and logged in full.

Access now, on a date, or when it matters most

For each item you share, you choose when it becomes accessible: straight away, on a date you set, or only through Lyff's verified Release process when it is genuinely needed.

A verified process, not a guess

The Lyff Release process requires a certified record confirming passing or incapacity, photo ID, and a witnessed statutory declaration. No probate is required, and Lyff never makes an independent judgement call; we simply carry out the instructions you have already set.

Every access is logged

Every time your vault or a shared item is opened, it is recorded in your Activity log. You will always know who accessed what, and when, both a security control and a transparency feature.

Every action in your vault, visible to you in one place

The Lyff Release Process

One verified process, applied the same way every time
