Your Custodian is a professional you trust, such as your solicitor, accountant or financial adviser. Their role is limited to the selected information and instructions you choose. Custodian appointments are included on paid plans.
A Custodian might be your solicitor, accountant, financial adviser or another professional you trust to play a defined role in your Lyff.
The relationship exists inside Lyff so the right professional can receive the right selected information. It does not give them ownership of your account or blanket access to your vault.
Your Custodian can be Active while still seeing none of your vault content. Access comes only from the item-level instructions you set.
Choose a named professional with a relevant relationship to your affairs. Lyff checks the professional and organisation details before activation.
A Custodian relationship is not created simply by typing in someone's name. They accept the role and Lyff checks the professional or organisation details before the relationship becomes Active.
Send the Custodian invitation to the professional's work email.
The professional accepts through their own authenticated Lyff account.
Lyff checks the professional or organisation details required for activation.
Once the required checks are complete, the professional can hold the Active role.
Your Custodian can request access only to the selected items you designated for them under Release Later. Nothing is released simply because a professional asks.
A partner, adult child, sibling, close friend or another trusted personal person.
A solicitor, accountant, financial adviser or another trusted professional adviser.
Lyff also works with professionals and organisations that want to help clients organise important information while keeping the client in control.
Your Custodian is intended to be a trusted professional adviser, such as a solicitor, accountant, financial adviser or another appropriate professional.

No. A Custodian appointment does not provide your vault passphrase or a recovery bypass. Recovery with your Recovery Key still requires your authenticated subscriber account and MFA. Custodians use their own account to access selected authorised items.
Custodian appointments are included with Complete, Complete Duo and Complete Circle. Free does not include Custodians or sharing. Each adult on Duo or Circle controls their own vault and appointments.
Yes. Incapacity and passing have separate item and recipient assignments. A Custodian receives only the selected items assigned to them for the approved event.
No. The Lyff role controls selected access within the platform. It does not itself appoint an executor, attorney or administrator, or replace the legal documents and authority relevant to your circumstances.

Share selected documents with your professional adviser now, or prepare selected instructions for incapacity or passing. Choose a paid plan to appoint a Custodian while keeping your own private vault and item-by-item control.
