HOW WE OFTEN STORE IMPORTANT INFORMATION
Important information often ends up in multiple places. It can be hard to find, difficult to share and not always set up for the future. Here's how the most common options compare.
Good for keeping originals and paper records, but they're not accessible when you're away from home. Sharing means finding, copying or physically handing over documents. Fire, water damage or theft can also put the originals at risk.
Passports, policies, letters and handwritten notes end up together. There's no easy way to search, organise or share them remotely. If someone needs to help you, they may not even know where to begin.
Important attachments disappear into busy inboxes and old email threads. Sensitive documents may remain in sent folders, recipients' inboxes and downloaded copies. If your email account is compromised, those files could be exposed.
Excellent for storing and syncing files, but accidentally shared links, incorrect permissions or compromised accounts can expose sensitive information. General cloud storage also isn't designed around trusted roles and reviewed release requests following major life events.
Password managers are excellent for protecting credentials. Many also offer encrypted storage and emergency access. But their main purpose isn't organising your wider personal, legal, financial and family information.

You can also set separate release instructions for incapacity and passing. Eligible requests are subject to identity verification, evidence review and a notification period before information is released.
Appointment alone does not give someone unrestricted access to your vault. Release Later requests are subject to review.
